In response to an invitation extended by the Church of Greece, the 13th Conference on World Mission and Evangelism is taking place in Athens, Greece. We are extremely honoured and grateful to be able to hold the conference in this prestigious city, where the apostle Paul delivered one of his most important messages. It is the first time that an ecumenical mission conference is being held in an Orthodox context.
The Conference venue is the Agios Andreas Recreational Centre. It is situated 30 kilometres Northeast of Athens, the Greek capital, on the road to the city of Marathonas, between the towns of Rafina and Nea Makri by the Aegean Sea.
All participants are being accommodated in single and double rooms of a small flat, either in bungalows or small apartment buildings. Plenary and worship tents, Synaxeis (workshop offerings) areas, the outdoor chapel and Conference administration are all centrally placed on the venue. Participants are being provided with small maps of the area and guidance upon arrival.
The Conference is hosted by the Athens Local Arrangements Committee (ALAC). The ALAC has representatives from five different churches present in Athens. In addition to hosting the Conference, the ALAC is responsible for the Greek cultural events, Greek visitors to the Conference and the Sunday services in Athens. ALAC is also involved in planning of the open Sending Service at Areopagus.
