Praying for reconciliation in war-torn Sudan
Bishop John Kongi from the Africa Inland Church
"After 21 years of war, reconciliation is a great challenge in Sudan," says bishop John Kongi, from the Africa Inland Church, which has some 97,000 members, 160 local congregations and headquarters in the capital Kartoum.
In Sudan, a Muslim-majority country, "Christians are not allowed to evangelize, but the church is growing," he says.
Although the situation has improved since the signature of the comprehensive peace agreement between the government and the Sudan People's Liberation Army/Movement last January, there is still much to be done. Is it reconciliation possible? "Yes, with a lot of prayer."
